Federal Government Incentives for Lighting Upgrades

Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF)

The Federal Government’s Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) is a national Scheme that aims to incentivise the reduction of emissions through the creation of Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs), which represent one tonne of carbon dioxide abated.

NCBA has successfully obtained a second active ‘Project’ with the Clean Energy Regulator (CER), which provides NCBA with the ability to claim energy savings at various sites across Australia.

To understand if your upgrade will be eligible for this incentive, please contact Grace Gallagher at grace@ncba.net.au or speak to a NCBA Team Member on (02) 9939 5559.

Monetary Incentive and Required Evidence

Unlike the other state-based energy efficiency schemes, returns under this program are claimed and generated annually in arrears, for a maximum period of seven years. As an example, the upgrade of 150x 400w MH Highbays with 120w LEDs in a Storage Warehouse would result in the following;

Further examples of projects can be found on our website here.

The evidence required to claim ACCUs is very similar to the NSW or Victorian state-based schemes. Please be aware, however, that the Energy Saver must be provided with a lighting design for the upgrade, and agree to the prescribed lighting levels in writing, prior to works commencing. The lighting design must also be signed off by a MIES/FIES/RLP qualified lighting designer.

If you have any questions or wish to understand more about NCBA's Service Offering's under the ERF, please contact Grace Gallagher at grace@ncba.net.au or speak to a NCBA Team Member on (02) 9939 5559.
